In general, citizen participation activities revolve around six aims:
1. Inform and educate the public about important policy issues through. Public Consultation by law in Jamaica
2. Improve government decisions by supplying better information upward from citizens to decision makers. Jamaica has started to do more of this.
3. Create opportunities for citizens to shape and, in some cases, determine public policy. Still in Talk not much practice
4. Legitimate government decisions by ensuring that the voices of those impacted by government policy have been heard, considered, and addressed. Some practice which is usual generated through the out cry of citizens and NGO advocacy/lobby
5. Involve citizens in monitoring the outcomes of policy for evaluation. Not much practice
6. Improve the quality of public life by restoring the trust and engagement of citizens. Not much trust
